The #emiratisation programme is the United Arab Emirates’ version of Nationalisation strategy and is one of the most known nationwide programmes, launched by the UAE Government a number of years ago. The major aim is to increase the number of Emiratis in the job market and their contribution to the economy.
As a very recent support of Emiratisation, the NAFIS (which means to compete in Arabic) programme was launched on September 12 last year. It is part of the “Projects of the 50”, which aim to accelerate the development journey of the #uae. NAFIS (https://nafis.gov.ae/) includes reforms and financial incentives aimed at increasing the competitiveness of qualified and enabled Emiratis and empowering them to occupy jobs in the United Arab Emirates’ private sector over the next years.
Under NAFIS, UAE will spend up to USD 6.53 billion to employ 75,000 Emiratis in the private sector by 2025. Private sector companies will be able to build the Emirati contribution to their workforce over time, starting with a requirement of 2% in skilled and knowledge-based roles rising in scale to 10% by 2025.
Originally more a numbers game, we at Predixa believe that a more refined approach is required - driving deeper understanding of what Nationalisation truly means, whereby more attention should be paid to measuring both the quality of employment and how well prepared an organisation is, to support the Nationalisation targets.
Hence, the focus should be shifted from simple talent acquisition, to talent development, retention, health & wellbeing and #inclusiveculture.
It is not just a matter about setting targets, but if #gcc governments want to fulfill the desired goal of nationalizing their labour force and hit the bullseye, then it’s about creating anurturing culture that attracts, retains, motivates and develops nationals.
Those organisations that are truly capable of looking beyond the numbers, will most likely be more successful in helping to make the most of the GCC region’s most abundant natural resource, its PEOPLE!
At PREDIXA , we have developed a #diversityequityandinclusion (DEI) service incorporating our diagnostic application, Predixa Dynamix, that uses #artificialintelligence to enable rapid analysis of an organisation’s DEI status. It predicts the probability of issues in specific areas - including #Nationalisation and the related effectiveness and impact of supporting policies. (See our latest press release https://www.predixa.ai/post/predixa-launches-world-s-first-nationalisation-index-for-gcc ).
So if you need to better understand how well prepared your organisation is to help support and achieve the Emiratisation targets, contact either Paula Newby or Kirsten Westholter.
